Jurisdictions
This site is authored in Canada. Licenses discussed originate in various jurisdictions. Enforceability and interpretation vary by country and by court. Some provisions that are enforceable in one jurisdiction are not in another.
If you are about to license something that matters
- A production codebase.
- A commercial product.
- A corporate dataset.
- Any material where the downside of “we got the licence wrong” is significant.
Consult a lawyer licensed in your jurisdiction. Bring them the shortlist you built here. They will get to the answer faster because you did the first pass.
